接手高登CEO至今已經有八年,一開始知道要代表高登出席唔同場合,都擔心會俾人起底,但最後決定豁出去以真面目示人。記得上任唔夠一年,就遇到高登歷年o黎最嚴重o既事件 — — 被告誹謗。最初我以為對方只係「嚇o下大家」,殊不知官司一打就打o左五年,最後打到上終審法院至告一段落。當時所受o既壓力大到難以形容,幸好得到好多會員o既支持,甚至有會員自發希望o係財政上給予支持,至今我仍然非常感激。不過,就呢單訴訟我o地花費o左超過7位數字o既律師費同賠償,換o黎法律上清晰釐定討論區要為會員發言負上o既責任。

除o左經常要處理關於誹謗問題o既律師信,高登最常要面對o既就係網絡攻擊問題。其實我o地一直有為伺服器作軟硬件上o既更新,奈何網絡攻擊o既「攻勢」日益增強同頻密,唔少時候大家鬧緊我o地Server超慢,背後其實都係因為伺服器受緊唔同程度o既攻擊,唔單只程式員要用大部分時間o黎處理相關問題,我自己有時都要半夜起身,甚至身處外地時都要處理。面對呢o的攻擊,我覺得冇可能每次都同大家講,否則有o的敏感時間每日要出十次八次公告,大家可能睇到麻木。 ......

城巴創辦人fb談慘劇:具敵意乘客也需承擔責任

已屆79歲的城巴創辦人李日新(Lyndon Rees)昨晚在個人fb談論大埔九巴意外慘劇。他表示,根據部份車上乘客所述,當時有乘客因不滿遲了開車而出言埋怨車長,最後發生了意外。他指雖然車長任何時候也應保持冷靜,或拒絕開車要求公司派人增援,但認為出言埋怨的乘客,也同樣要負上責任。

對於有意見將責任歸咎在巴士公司聘請兼職司機,李日新反駁指這些兼職司機很多都是充滿熱誠及有多年的良好駕駛經驗,不遜於全職的巴士司機。有意見亦認為,出事的大埔公路應該限速,但李日新認為,巴士司機其實對每個彎位已經非常熟悉,今次肇禍或與司機所承受的心理壓力有關,又以2015年德國之翼空難為例,航空公司也預測不到機長疑似自殺式撞機,認為不能全怪責巴士公司;而要求佩戴安全帶亦不是解決方法,站立的乘客一樣沒有保障。

他指巴士行業是高風險行業,一星期七日24小時都在運作,不能無間斷監察巴士司機的工作,只能從今次慘劇汲取教訓,防止下一次意外發生,亦呼籲外界應停止再批評,讓法官領導的調查進行。

The entire HK bus industry is in deep trauma following the recent tragic bus accident with such heavy loss of life and injuries. Everyone feels deepest sorrow for this tragedy which no one wished to see happen.
Having said that, I am extremely annoyed at the foolish comments being made by many ‘instant experts’ in the City and especially by those Union officials and some well known political rabble rousers, who came out to demonstrate against the bus company over the weekend. They should be ashamed of themselves for political opportunism amidst such grief.
If the witnesses on the bus are to be believed, a contributory cause of the accident may have been the hostility shown by some passengers towards the driver because he set off from Shatin Racecourse 10’ late. This seems to have enraged the driver to the extremes of his tolerance with such unfortunate consequences. Whatever the provocation, the bus driver should have maintained his cool or, have refused to depart until assistance had been forthcoming. The hostile passenger too, must be held to account.
Much criticism is being leveled at part-time drivers but, many of these essential staff have been driving buses for many years with unblemished records. In the main, they are a dedicated band of enthusiastic drivers who are every bit as competent and responsible as their permanent staff colleagues. To criticize these short-shift drivers because the weekend catastrophe was a part-timer, is unwarranted and unjust.
Others have suggested reducing the speed limit on Tai Po Rd. This would do nothing for the interests of road safety because bus drivers know quite well at what speed it is safe to drive buses around sharp bends, regardless of speed limits. The fact that this caution was not observed, is due to the psychological state of mind of the driver at the time. Let’s not forget the Germanwings disaster over the Alps. Do you think Lufthansa was any more capable of anticipating that disaster than the KMB managers were of anticipating Tai Po Rd ?


Then, we have the call for passenger seat belts on buses. Who will enforce their use and what provision will be made for standees ?
The bus industry all over the world is one of constant high risk. Our thousands of drivers are spread throughout the city 24/7. Unlike factory workers on a production line, we cannot keep constant watch over them although modern ‘black box’ technology is trying to do that. HK has an enviable bus safety record with billions of passengers conveyed in safety over many millions of kilometers annually.
Tragic though this incident is, those who are now making rash comments for political expediency should shut up and let the Judge - led inquiry get on with it.
One thing is for certain, whilst the human element continues to be involved, there is absolutely no way any bus manager can anticipate the next unique disaster. All that can be done is to learn from past disasters and plan for their future avoidance. But how, where and when will another unanticipated unique set of circumstances occur ?
